2.0 Printed manuals

I just orderd my printed manuals  Smiley

As handy as the manuals contained in the Sdesigner editor of Sesame 2.0 are, and as much as I love using them, I am still so excited that I will soon be receiving printed versions to dog ear the pages, add my own notes and watch it become tattered with use.

I think you'll be very pleased with them. They came out nice. It's funny though to see the version 1 and 2 manuals side-by-side. They about doubled in thickness with all the new stuff!

Wow only Double.
There is so much great new stuff with 2.0, I am surprised there not triple the size  Smiley

A forum lurker who does not want to post E-mailed asking me were I ordered from. For anyone else that may not have seen the post discussing 2.0 availability it is:

Tracking shows I am supposed to receive mine today  Smiley. Can hardly wait to explore the new features!! Like what I am seeing so far. Reviewing commands and functions using list browser instead of going through manuals, saves time while coding. Great feature. This forum is ever ready to help when you hit the wall. Thanks.

Are a set of the printed manuals included with the Conference program, or are they purchased separately?

Hello Scott,

The printed manuals are purchased separately, if you recieved 2.0 at the Conference.

Feedback on the new manuals:

I love 'em.  The brighter paper looks great.  The graphics are cleaner and easier to read; I wish there were more of them.  The sheer size of these books is impressive.

My only quibble is with the Programming Guide Index.  Much has been lost here, and not just the separation of entries by bold letters (the User Guide has this, why not the Programming Guide?)  The previous index had more meat to it, with a lot of "general" ideas and terms pointing to specific commands and sections in the book.  The newer index is primarily a list of programming command names.  The only problem with that is that if you only have a vague idea of what you want to do (and I'm full of vague ideas) but don't already know the name of the command to do it, you can get a bit lost trying to find what you're looking for.

BUT!  I still love 'em, great job guys!

Scott,

When you get a chance, try glancing through the Command Families section Page 89-130. This section groups the commands in each family by vague idea.

I also think they are GREAT!.

I am amazed at how much I learned by just reading through the Users Guide. Sesame offers so many great features it is hard to remember all that is available to us. The manuals are helpful to keep all the options straight in my mind.

I hope that someone will soon write a Tips and Tricks book for Sesame giving lots of examples and routines we can cannibalize and use.

I figure there is a pretty good list of  potential authors that could pull this off, like Erika, Mark, Ray, Ben, Tom, Bob Hanson or Carl just to name a few.

I am looking forward to purchasing my copy of Sesame for Dummies with one of those names as the author.

Ah, marvelous.  Thanks for pointing that out; with the vast terrain covered by these books, it could have been a while before I stumbled over this.
