CreateAProcess vs. AsynchShell

Have used CreateAProcess to run an exe file that just moves a window and closes.   Sometime later Sesame seems to suddenly crash without any reason.   Now I need to unlock Sesame and restart it again.   The crashes are on random screens and no consistent trigger.  After restart no crashes until I CreateAProcess the same file again. Crashes are not immediate, may be 10 mins or later.

So I switched to AsynchShell and so far,  no crashes.  What are the differences between the two Sesame commands? Are there possibly some hooks back to Sesame that might not get broken?  This is not an area I am strong about.

What are the Pros and Cons of these commands vs.  each other?  The info in Programming Guide did not explain like it did for @Shell and AsynchShell.

Using Windows 10 and Sesame 2. 6.
