Ampersand in lookup

Interesting little glitch.....

I have a lookup field that returns the name of my customer, etc. from a drop down list into another field.  If the customer info has a "&" in their name, it wont' return the value!

PYou need to use a backslash in front of the ampersand.

Examples: Smith \& Wesson; macaroni \& cheese; Q\&A

See Inside Sesame, June 2005, page 6 for article on how to deal with & in drop down lists.

It's not a glitch at all. The Ampersand is used in Search syntax as the 'and' operator and an XLookup is a search operation. As Bob stated you will need to escape it by using a backslash to search for a literal ampersand.

Brings to mind and interesting comment I heard recently:

The original "point-and-click" interface ... was a Smith & Wesson!  Grin
