What creates a new "generation" in Q&A?

I spent most of last Saturday making our Workorder database Generation 1 (Q&A 5.0).  DTF Doctor is finally happy with it.  I did a test Sesame translation that showed there was still some data to clean up, but that's no problem; I'm doing that today and I'm almost done.  Meanwhile, the database is still in live, active use by a half-dozen users.

Is there anything that I or they are doing that will change the generation again?  I'm clueless as to what it is exactly that causes generation shift and really don't want to go through that process again if I can avoid it.

Briefly, if you add fields, delete fields or change the order of fields, you create a new generation.
