Server Error

Ray,

I'm occasionally having an app crash. In the server logs, I see "Communications error with socket set notice 2." Can you provide any insight on what may be the issue?

BTW, the server and client are running on the same machine.

Thanks,
Carl

Hi Carl,

There are quite a few things that it could be as that error message just means that the communication port between client and server has been closed/broken/etc.

The article I have in the KB at
https://lantica.com/support/kb/article/
137-Troubleshooting-Client-Server-Connection-Issues
covers a lot of the common issues.

I would need details such as OS, Power Savings/Sleep settings, Network Card power settings, Firewall settings, Windows Update settings if a Windows OS(I've seen the network card get wonky, for lack of a better term, after a large update downloads but a reboot fixes it until the next time...)

Thanks Ray.

I've had all the recommended settings for years, and I just re-checked that they are still set up properly. (And I'm also aware of the need to reboot an extra time beyond what MS Updates indicates is needed. After it says there are no more updates, I reboot one more time.)

It happens with one particular app, and it seems to happen while doing the same action. But, it does not always do it, so it's difficult to reproduce. I just know that when it does happen, it's right after a certain button click.

I let you know if I ever figure out how to reproduce it on demand.

Hi Carl,

It could very well be some obscure bug in Sesame, where just the right timing and set of commands.

Get in touch with me. If it's an actual crash, I can send you a debug version along with steps on getting a call stack(will need to install Visual Studio) that may help to pinpoint and fix the problem.
