I have a couple of instances of using the writeln() command to list information the user might need.  It's quick and easy and works well.

In some cases, I'd like to specify the width of the slate.  If this is feasible, how would I go about doing it?

Yes, but only with third party software. I created a custom executable file that I use to do this for myself. Plus, it also can position the slate exactly where I want it too. Contact me, via the email link below, if you'd like to discuss having me create one for you.
