Q&A Restrictions not valid after translation quest

We have restrictions on many of the fields in our Q & A 4.0 for Windows database. After translation into Sesame 2.1, we see that performing a simple search brings up all the records correctly; however, when we move between records we get a Warning window that states:

"The following elements do not meet optional restrictions. Do you want to save this record and contine?"

Beneath that general warning message are three column labels titled: Element Name; Restriction; and Current Value.

In the element name column are listed the fields that have restriction problems for that record. In the Restriction column are the actual restrictions listed and the current value column is just blank.

Am I right to assume that Sesame cannot translate these restrictions and that is why the warning is appearing? What is/are simple work around(s) for this?

It would be great if we could have the fields restricted in Sesame like we do in Q&A.

Thank you.

Restrictions in Sesame are more aggressive than they are in Q&A. You are getting those messages because your data does not actually conform to your restrictions. See pages 7 -8 of the Q&A Translation Guide for an explanation and solutions.

It sounds like a number of your records have blank values and your optional restrictions do not allow for that as a valid choice. This is covered in the Translation Guide.
