Q&A question from Sesame Dev

Before I bother the folks that wrote Q&A, does anyone know why the Q&A function "@Rest" was named "@Rest". I am assuming that the "e" stands for "expression" since the function evaluates expressions - but other than that its been a guessing game.

Any ideas?

I have no idea as to the answer to your question, but I have one for you: you know the folks who wrote Q&A?  Wow, great networking, I'm jealous.  Please tell them I love their program and have been using it for 15+ years.  I'll be a bit sad on the day I finally put it out to pasture.

Oh, and ask them if they have a driver for a Lexmark 7170, 'kay?  Thanks!

You just did. One of the Q&A developers is also a Sesame developer and reads this forum on occasion.

I don't know the real reason, but in my mind I have always thought "Returns Equal STrings"

@Rest (Company, "IBM") only Returns TRUE if String of "IBM" Equals the value in Company.

The way I remember what it does, is to think of it as an abbreviation of "Restrict" spec.

If you find out what it really was named after, be sure to let us know too.

That actually seems pretty likely to me.

How about REST is eliminated - That is the way I remembered....

@Rest (Company, "IBM")
Only IBM and rest are ignored or eliminated from the selection.

@Rest (ShipDate, "{@Date - 7}")
Only Last seven days - Rest are eliminated from selection...

This amount to almost the same as what Carl suggested.
