Alphabetizing in Reports

I don't know if there's something easy on this that I'm missing or if it requires programming...

I'm trying to design a report that will show our customers and their various contact information.  I would like this to be done alphabetically by customer name.  When I run the report based on a search (Ship to Area = HS..) they come up in a random order.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

regards,
miss doo

I didn't see any mention of a sort on customers, just a retrieve statment.  I belive all you need is to sort either before or after you do the search. Smiley

You can also attach a sort spec to a report so that the report will always be sorted.

Below are steps for doing this.

In Designer open your Dsr file
Expand the application folder on the Design Menu Tree.
Choose Preview Application
Open Search Update
Set the sort spec that you desire below in the Spec Window
Hit Alt + F8
Change the drop down box from "Retrieve" to "Sort"
Switch to the Save tab
Type in a name
Click Save
Click Close
Click Exit Preview
Open the report which you want to be sorted
Click Attach Specs under the commands area
Change Spec Type to Sort Spec
Change Attach Spec to Select A Different Spec
Change Select a Spec to the Spec that you saved
Click Attach
Click Close
You now have an attached sort spec.
