If I set a LE to have UPPERCASE text format, is that supposed to just diplay the data in uppercase, or is it supposed to change the way it is stored on the hard drive (the way Q&A handled it)?

The reason I ask is that I have a price list database that contains a "Model No" LE formated for uppercase, but when I print a report, the data is in lowercase (the way I actually typed it in).

I know that I can use ToUpper in programming, or use formating in the report to change it. I just wanted to know if it was supposed to save it to disk in uppercase. Though I can see some value in having it only display in uppercase without actually changing it, and letting the programmer decide whether or not to use ToUpper for manipulation of the data on disk.

The Uppercase display format only changes how the information is displayed in that layout element.  It is stored the way it is typed in.

Hint:

Use SH-F6 to see the data in the table view.

That will show you the actual stored formats.

Thanks guys,

Looks like I'll be adding ToUpper to my programming.
