ATTACHING RETRIEVE & SORT SPECS TO REPORTS
Feb 17th, 2005 at 1:52pm
Print Post Print Post
I am designing several reports in Sesame designer, testing them, reconciling them to the DB and ultimately creating retrieve and sort specs in the DB.

However, when I try to attach a spec in the Attach Specs  Editor in the Designer, it does not provide me with the list of spec I have created in the DB.

It only shows me the first spec created for the first report I created.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong ?

Thanks,

Louis G.

In the attach spec box,Choose "Select a different Spec"then you should see them all.

I tried that and it only shows one spec, being the spec created for my orginal report.

Thanks,

Hello Louis,

Reconcile your dsr to your db file.
In Designer click File Open Application
Choose your .DB file
Save it as a .DSR file
Go into one of your reports.
Click Attach Specs.
Choose Select a Different Spec.
You will then see the specs there.

Ray:

Great advice !  It worked like a charm.

I didn't realize that you have to reconcile the DB back to the DSR - although it does make sense when you think about it.

I am finding this forum to be an awesome resource and a wealth of information on many topics.

Thanks,

Louis

LFG,

Just FYI: If you are just making a spec to attach to a report, you can make it in Preview mode. When you close Preview, the spec will be available to attach to the Report. If you don't need that Spec for anything else, you can delete it after saving the Report. Attaching a spec to a report makes a copy of the spec, so you don't need to keep the original spec.
